Highlights of the minutes from the previous meeting (11/10/03) were reviewed.
Spring Calendar
John Papinchak reviewed the spring schedule for PAWest and SPSA. Of particular interest is the South District meeting for Travel to be held 3/14/03 at California University. Additionally, the SPSA travel and in-house coaches spring organizational meetings will be held at the Community Room at 7:30PM on 3/8/04 and 3/15/04, respectively.

Coach & Player Development
- List of licensed coaches to be developed for SPSA use
- Y-primer to be pursued for the spring and fall
- SPSA will budget for licensing reimbursement for next year
In-House
- Previously, consideration was being given to changing from 4 to 5 U8B field players for the spring, but given the light registration for this age group this will not be possible. Next year’s organization for this age group should assume 5 field players plus a keeper.
- Also, there were concerns with the number of available U12G and U15 substitutions in the fall. The SPSA guideline for playing numbers was re-affirmed and will be re-iterated at the coaches’ meeting. Teams should play at equal numbers (either playing down or borrowing a player(s) from the other team). There will be no call-ups or participation by players from teams other than those scheduled for the game.
- Dave Pook was volunteered to coordinate trophy purchase and distribution again this year.
Travel
- Practice goals will be placed at the Middle School upper field for use by the travel teams. They will be attached to the fence along the north boundary of the fields.
- John Alukonis was to obtain new locks and keys for the equipment boxes at the Middle School. Travel coaches would obtain keys and practice flags would be stored in the boxes for their team’s use.
- Discussion was held on the possible procurement of pug goals, either by SPSA or as a group order for coaches through SPSA. No decision was made at this time.
- Dave Shero has volunteered to coach the High School girls (U17G) team for the spring.
- Players playing up 2 or more age groups need a notarized letter of consent from their parents/guardians. This could effect players on the two High School teams and Debbie Morgan’s team.
Field And Structures
- Due to degraded field conditions, no practices should be held at Evans fields in the spring. A-field (the upper field) is particularly bad and may need to be closed early in the spring to permit maintenance.
- Field mix will be ordered (in conjunction with baseball) to repair the center of A-field for the spring.
- The gate at the Middle School fields will also be repaired to prohibit unauthorized access by vehicles.
Web Site Development
- The following information was solicited for incorporation into the web site to support spring play:
- Game schedules
- Updated practice schedule
- In-house and travel assignment schedules
- Picture day schedule
- Disclosure form
Spring Registration
- Several prospective in-house players wanted to register after the 1/31/04 deadline. It was decided to permit their registration as long as it was completed by 2/14/04.
- In-house commissioners need to provide the spring player team placement to the procurement commissioner for the purchase of uniforms.
- Outstanding travel rosters for new teams or for teams changing division from the fall need to be finalized soon.
