The coaches’ meeting serves as the kick-off to the spring In-House soccer session.  As such, the meeting was predominately run by the In-House commissioners.

 

Introduction

 

·        No new teams for the spring

·        New players assigned on an as-needed basis

·        Reviewed Board positions up for election

·        April: Boy’s Travel commissioner

·        June:  President, secretary, travel referee commissioner, U10 & U12-U15 in-house commissioners and field & structures commissioner

 

Upcoming Dates

 

·        Field maintenance on 3/19 (3/26 rain date)

·        Club referee class on 3/26

·        Begin of practice on 3/28

·        E-license on 3/29, 3/30, 4/5, 4/6 & 4/7

·        Regular season on 4/2 - 5/7

In-House

 

·        Guidelines

·        Every player gets equal playing time and opportunity to play all positions

·        During regular season play with equal numbers.  Only players on the two teams scheduled at that time may play.  Play down and/or borrow players from the other team.

 

·        Overview of each Age Group

U05 & U06

·        4v4 with no keepers,   4 x 8 minutes

·        Coaches should stay off the field

·        Coaches can facilitate restarts for EITHER team (one coach on each sideline (NOT behind goals)); do not place players

·        Be prepared to substitute quicklyNote concession assignments on 5/14 and 5/21 call for 4 parents from each team

 

U08

·        6v6 including keepers, 4 x 10 minutes

·        One throw-in retry

·        No official offsides, but cherry-picking will receive a warning

 

U10

·        7v7 including keepers, 2 x 24 minutes

·        No throw-in retry (different from fall session)

 

U12 & U15

·        2 x 24 minutes

 

·        Coach and player development

·        Encourage enrollment in E-license class (dates provided earlier)

·        Will pursue player clinics for the spring

·        Riverhounds camp to be held on 8/1 through 8/4

·        High School camp will also be scheduled for the summer

 

·        Overview of Spring Schedule

·        Added 30-minute lunch break mid-day for referees

·        U15 tournament starts on 5/7.  No U15 games on 5/14 due to eighth grade Washington DC field trip

·        Tournament and championship day schedules provided based on team numbers which were drawn at the end of the meeting

 

·        Practices and Work Assignments

·        Practice schedule

·        Start 3/28, weather & field conditions pending

·        Concession

·        Two people from each team for each assigned time slots

·        Coordinated with game schedules

·        No children under 12 years old allowed in the concession stand

·        Set-up/take-down

·        First and last teams on fields for the day; 2 people per team

·        7 AM set-up time

·        Take-down on U8 fields occurs earlier in the day than the rest of the fields; don’t forget and leave goals intact, just remove feet and fold up

·        Take-down includes field clean-up and the emptying of trash cans`

·        Field maintenance scheduled for beginning and end of spring session

·        Parking monitors requires one person per time slot; only those with parking passes or the handicapped are permitted in the parking area.

·        Tournament  and Championship Days; one volunteer from each team needed for two hours, specific work duties to be assigned later

·        Next year’s registration will be scheduled away from the fields

 

·        Rosters & Tournament Matchups

·        Distributed updated team rosters for spring session

·        Report misspellings, wrong numbers, and dropped players

·        Drew team numbers to be used for tournament match-ups

The coaches’ meeting serves as the kick-off to the spring Travel soccer session.  As such, the meeting was predominately run by the Boy’s and Girl’s travel commissioners.

 

·        Travel team responsibilities

·        Provide 3 man-hours of field maintenance in the spring

·        First teams on a field on each Sunday are responsible for the painting of all fields needed for that day and set-up of goals and flags for the first game.  Coordinate set-up with travel commissioners to provide access to Evans.

·        Last teams on the field on each Sunday must remove goals from the field and place nails, flags and benches in the storage area.  Lower field teams must also remove net from in front of the concession stand.  Pick up trash all around the fields and empty trash containers.

·        Two parents form each team required for two hours in the concession stand for each home game

 

·        Team set-up and registration

·        All teams should have already completed registration either through the Division 1/A meetings or at Cal U for the lower divisions

·        Coaches should read the PAWest rules provide at the meetings

·        Game schedules should be provided to the travel referee commissioner (John Alukonis) ASAP for integration into the overall South Park home game schedule.

·        Prior to second week of the season all opponents must be informed of game times throughout the spring session.

·        Make sure players and their parents understand their responsibilities.

 

·        Week to week activities

o       Make sure to have your stickered roster and player passes for each game

o       Provide directions toe Evans to visiting opponents (see SPSA website)

o       Have parents and opponents park across Triphammer if you are playing on the upper field

o       Visiting opponents must be informed of game cancellation at least two hours plus travel time before the scheduled start of the game.  The travel referee commissioner and the fields and structures commissioner will call rain-outs early Sunday morning.  Make sure your coach’s contact information and that of your alternate is accurate.

o    Make-up games must be scheduled through the travel referee commissioner

o    List players on your player cards in alphabetical order.

o    Do not sign cards until after the game and the score has been properly recorded on the card.

o    John Alukonis will have extra player cards at the fields on Sundays
