PAWest Annual Meeting (3/20/05)
Attended by President John Papinchak. Approved several constitutional amendments (see latest Touchline). The major changes are listed below:
Elections
Nominations for Boy’s Travel Commissioner: Mark Augustine and Paul Caracciolo. Both accepted the nomination (Mark Augustine through Mike Sommer). Paul Caracciolo was elected to the Boy’s Travel Commissioner position.
In-House
· Paul Caracciolo, Jim Stein, Ron Schultz and Walt Kivala reviewed potential trophies and have a favorite (bicycle kicker). This option will be pursued.
· Tournament Day entertainment suggestions were discussed: airbrush tattoos, Action Shots, Riverhounds, Signature Apparel, Shriners (through Gary Schwartz) and Rita’s Italian Ice.
· Player registration concerns:
o Need better control of late registrations. Registrar needs one week for paperwork and procurement needs that week for uniforms
o Unbalancing in-house teams is a problem after team construction
o Maybe set official end date well before the coaches’ meeting and start a waiting list for placement on an as-needed basis
o Advertise better, including flyers to schools and sign in front of the library
· Picture Day for next year should be no earlier than the 3rd week of the season. This will help communication while still getting pictures back in time
· Practice fields are not well defined. Confusion remains from fall re-arrangement. Need field layout on the web site. There should be no practices by the Middle School building.
· Appreciate soccer weekend. No instruction to on-field players. Positive comments, only. In-house commissioners need to craft guidelines for coaches and spectators (send to John Papinchak)
· Coaches need to complete their player evaluations by mid season using the new evaluation form (to be posted on the web site)
Field And Structures
· The back room of the concession stand is over-crowded and a mess. Need to clean up and make room for equipment.
· U6 benches should stay out at the fields
· Takedown crews must remember the referee tent
Travel
· Takedown on 4/10/05 was good on the upper field and poor on the lower field. Need better communication of responsibilities. Post list of takedown items on back of storage area door.
· Two U9 (SHIDSL) teams constructed. Bob Felix and Rich Stubenraugh to coach. Common practice time of Sunday nights 6:00 PM at the Middle School.
· Girls teams should send game results to Jim Stein (cc: Papinchak and Kivala)
· Shelly Thropp is interested in doing travel player evaluations for next year. Brooke to pursue high school boy’s coaches.
· Travel commissioners to be involved in drafting plan for appreciate soccer weekend.

· Travel referee commissioner is seeking additional certified referees
Coach &
Player Development
· E-license class in South Park was completed and well received
· SPSA coaches should submit a copy of their certificate of completion to be reimbursed.
Open Discussion
· SPSA to send thank you to Mr Burnett (father of Jeff) for the donation of the new player benches.
· Sodded field areas are starting to recover from winter; they are slower to do so than the other areas.
· Lost and found from last year will be displayed at the next in-house Saturday.
· Question concerning beaded hair for player safety.
